Published in De woonkamer issue of Forum Magazine (Sept 2020). 

The framed side tells the story of a path that begins at one point of the corridor and which ends at another. 

The narrator never takes his eyes off of the living room. Every door and corner has stories to tell. Stories that shape his walk towards the frame at the end of the corridor.

GAS STATIONS

– or it’s about THAT but for it to be about THAT it needs THIS and the other THAT – 2018

In this thesis, gas stations are considered as non-places (cf. Marc Augé). These non-places are points along a highway, which is an inflexible pathway that leads you from point A to point B. I then shift my focus towards language. If I consider that language is like a highway, a restrictive channel for conveying thought from person A to person B, what if we imagined non-places within this language? What could these non-places be like?

It is first a matter of defining the structures of languages ​​that can restrict (the prevailing weight of existing references, the impossibility of expression outside of binary frameworks, etc.), and then of observing how those restrictions can, within these gas stations, become more flexible. 

This thesis marks the beginning of my studies and thoughts on language. It was designed as a “highway” (the pathway that leads you from beginning to end), interspersed with “gas stations” of different formats (fragments of references, thoughts, photos, observations and schematized ideas).

_{Dans ce mémoire, les stations-service sont considérées comme des non-lieux (cf. Marc Augé). Ces non-lieux sont des points qui se trouvent le long d’une autoroute, un chemin inflexible qui vous mène du point A au point B. Je déplace ensuite mon attention vers le langage. Si je considère que le langage est comme une autoroute, un canal restrictif qui transmet une pensée de la personne A à la personne B, pouvons-nous imaginer des non-lieux dans ce langage? À quoi pourrait ressembler ces non-lieux?} 

_{Il s’agit de définir quelles sont les structures de langages qui peuvent restreindre (le poids parfois directeur des références, l’impossibilité de sortir d’un cadre d’expressions binaires…) et d’observer comment celles-ci peuvent potentiellement se libérer au sein de ces stations services.}

Il a été conçu et réalisé comme une “autoroute” (composant les parties principales du mémoire ayant un début, un déroulé et une fin), entrecoupée ensuite de “stations-service” de différents formats (composées de fragments de références, pensées, photos, observations et idées schématisées).}
